Zine Project
For my Year 11 Visual Arts and Design final major project, I chose a commercial brief which required outcomes that could be sold as merchandise. For my narrative, I created an adventure story about a group of aliens and a star that becomes an unexpected companion. My chosen deliverables were an A5 zine with characters and storyline, as well as a set of prints, postcards and badges.

Initial Sketches
For my narrative, I wanted to have a story set in space and based around aliens and an unexpected companion, a star, having to go on an adventure. For the designs of these characters, I took inspiration from retro/funk interpretations of space from the 1980s/90s, leaning less on realistic depictions of space suits.
Badge Designs
For my badge set, I repurposed some illustrations that I already had created for the zine, as they fit well into this format. I made six individual badges for each character.
Zine Pages
I designed and made the illustrations for my zine on Clip Studio Paint, before importing them into Adobe Indesign and adding text. I made sure all text was formatted correctly and didn't overlap into any images.
Finished Articles
The Zine was printed on high quality paper and sewn. I wanted them to be sturdier so that readers would treat them as collectibles. Badges were produced by hand using a badge press machine.
