Personal Work: Stars
The other story I like to work on is an offshoot of what I created for my Visual Arts zine, a story where stars have consciousness and can present as humanoid. I am continuously building this world, recently adding an interstellar bar where stars and other celestial objects can gather, leading to the creation of a whole host of new characters to illustrate.
Sketches
The new characters I created were all meant to contribute to a community of celestial objects in my story. The majority of these are anthropomorphic representations of actual celestial bodies. My main inspiration for their designs came from three things; the type of object they are (colour and size), their positions in constellations (for animalistic features), and any cultural myths surrounding them.
My designs for a group of stars which in Ancient Persia were known astrologically as the Royal Stars. This includes the stars Antares, Aldebaran, Regulus and Fomalhaut.
My designs for the stars Deneb, Sirius and Rigel.
My designs for the moon Charon, the Crab Nebula, the moon Ganymede and the star Adhara. This also includes a previously designed character, a human called Dekel, who gets involved with the Crab Nebula over the course of the story as he is roped into bartending at the star bar.
